Telecoms Company Fortifies Community Involvement with Various Christmas Community Activities
George Town, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands – December 17, 2008: Digicel Cayman kept its momentum of giving-back to the Cayman Islands community throughout 2008, with a round of activities that assisted and brought “good cheer” to residents throughout December.
Digicel’s management and staff offered their support through various acts of kindness throughout the islands, at corporate, community and personal levels. The company supported various causes with both tangible gifts as well as physical manpower to assist in personal ways.
CEO of Digicel Cayman, Mr. Victor Corcoran, thanked the community in his statement regarding Digicel’s Give-Back Projects. “Digicel’s Corporate Culture was shaped on the premise of community development. From day one, Digicel has stressed the importance of community well-being through the availability of elements that make life easier, comfortable and affordable. Digicel could not operate and succeed without people, both internally and externally. Hence, we appreciate the support and love that we get from the community in Cayman and Digicel would like to thank the Cayman Islands for giving us the opportunity to make their lives better,” said Mr. Corcoran.
Mr. Corcoran and his team made a courtesy call on the Cayman Islands Health Services Authority recently at George Town Hospital in Grand Cayman. The Digicel visit included a tour of the facilities which Mr. Corcoran openly praised, along with commendation of the courteous and professional staff who “dedicate their lives to helping people.” The tour included Mr. Corcoran meeting patients of the Maternity and Pediatrics Wards, as well as offering greetings and gifts from Digicel. Another highlight of the tour included the fabulous 11 ft. Christmas tree in the Atrium of the George Town Hospital which was donated by Digicel.
Digicel has supported district community projects leading-up to the Christmas holidays. Digicel’s Head of Marketing, Mrs. Casandra Harris and Events Executive Mr. Gary Dominguez along with other team members recently dedicated their efforts to the Northside Christmas Community project which included meeting and greeting seniors and children, participating in activities and offering comfort to residents. The same was repeated at the George Town Community event held in Windsor Park recently when Digicel representatives Ms. Atanda La Forest and Mr. Andre Gooden joined in the activities and offered support to residents. Other areas with immediate priority include West Bay and Bodden Town.
The company prioritizes community development which is evident in the dedication displayed in activities that impact all facets of the Cayman Islands community.
“Digicel takes community development seriously. We are committed to the progress of Caribbean people and we dedicate ourselves to personally assisting where possible. Our motto of the Bigger, Better Network is primarily geared at positioning the Cayman Islands and other Caribbean islands as leaders globally,” said Mr. Corocoran.
