Q.           What is KidSafe?

A.            KidSafe is prepaid service available in a Daily, Weekly, Monthly or Quarterly flavor that blocks access to web sites considered to include inappropriate content.

Q.           What websites are not accessible?

A.            Websites that contain reference to gambling, violence, pornography, drug abuse. Digicel wants to offer parent piece of mind when their children are online.

Q.           How is the internet access filtered?

A.            Digicel have partnered with global security leaders Checkpoint Technologies to offer KidSafe, where hundreds of technicians are constantly updating internet blacklists/whitelists every day (in multiple languages) into different categories. Like all filter products there is a risk of a lag between websites being created and the technicians categorizing these new websites as inappropriate so this solution is only 99% effective and Digicel does not accept any liability for this fact. It is extremely unlikely that a user would stumble across such a site unless they are deliberately trying to identify possible holes in the filter system. Customers can get additional sites blocked by sending an email to kidsafecayman@digicelgroup.com or logging on to http://mtas.surfcontrol.com/mtas/MTAS.asp and requesting the site to be blocked.

Q.           How can I test to see what sites will be categorized as?

A.            Follow this link http://mtas.surfcontrol.com/mtas/MTAS.asp  to test what a website how a website is classified. If you do manage to find unsuitable content you can also request that website be blacklisted using this link.

Q.           What are categories that KidSafe uses and which are blocked?

Q.           What is the difference between KidSafe and other products available in the market like Net Nanny, Cyber Patrol etc?

A.            Other internet filtering products are client based. This means you have to download load a CD or download software directly onto your computer. KidSafe is “cloud computing” which means the filtering is done within the network. The advantage of this is that it can’t be turned off by tech savy children/teenagers. If you Google other products like Net nanny, Cyber Patrol etc you will see instructions on how to disable them on your computer!

Q.           As a parent, can I disable the website filtering if I want?

A.            No, once you purchase KidSafe it will filter websites for the remainder of the product period you purchased. Once the time period has finished you will be able to buy the normal unfiltered Pay as You Surf products.

Q.           I have multiple computers, do I need to buy multiple licenses like other internet filtering products?

A.            No, unlike other client based applications-Digicel filters your broadband connection not the actual computers e.g. You could have a wireless router with 5 computers connected, all internet traffic that passes through the Digicel broadband modem will be filtered.

Q.           What is the next step?

You can purchase the KidSafe Daily service and test our product yourself, once you are confident in the filtering  you can purchase a longer time period.  Kid safe will work with existing Digicel Broadband modems so there is no need to purchase an additional modem.
